On September 6, 2024, members of the Network came together for a lively coordination group meeting. The third conference on citizen initiatives was set for late 2025. We discussed possible locations for the event: Amsterdam, Brussels and Bratislava were considered. The event would aim to reflect on the evolving role of CIGS in a changing global solidarity landscape. CISU, from Denmark, emphasised the importance of discussing development localisation, while SLOGA highlighted building upon the legacy of the Bridge 47 network on global education. Global organisations like the Global Fund for Community Foundations might also be invited to share their perspectives, adding an exciting global dimension.
The meeting also shined a spotlight on the working groups of the network. The Research Working Group tackled the impact of right-wing budget cuts and their implications on public support for global citizenship. A significant moment will come when researchers meet Danish CIGS to explore new collaborations.
Meanwhile, the Capacity Building Group discussed strategies to combat rising challenges from political shifts and plans for a mini-conference among members. The Funding Working Group stirred lively debate on fundraising strategies and reasons to focus or not to focus funding.
As the group wrapped up, they looked forward to their next meeting on December 12th. If you would like to read the full minutes of this meeting pleaseĀ klik this link.
