CIGS capacity building and the European elections

On 7 March the Capacity Building Working group of the network discussed the upcoming European elections and what direct and indirect implications they could have for the work of CIGS in Europe. We heard country reports from Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium/Flanders, Finland, and Poland. We discussed the challenges that the right-wing and populist trends might cause in future and have already caused. We discussed how we can better capacitate the CIGS we work with to counter populism and enable them to better show the importance of global solidarity. Some inspirational technical tools were presented, but also the importance of collaboration in these times was stressed. We agreed to further the discussion after the European election and meet on 12 September again. If you are interested to join the Capacity Building working group feel free to register here.
