Citizens for Citizens

In times of crisis many citizens feel compelled to undertake action. The current refugee crisis that is taking place as a result of the Russian invasion in Ukraine is such a crisis. Citizens decide overnight to undertake action. Citizen Initiatives in Global Solidarity are often the rally points through which such actions can take place. The existence of often personal solidarity relations and years of peacefull cooperation between people from Ukraine and other European countries makes that many feel that this crisis is very personal. But not always actions are best channeled, starting your own action even as a Citizen Initiative in Global Solidarity requires some consideration. To help people in making these considerations the CAOS team of the Radboud University of Nijmegen has made the citizens for citizens factsheet.

The capacity building working group focuses on training activities that are organised by the members to strengthen the capacities of CIGS.

The funding working group exchanges practices on processes and procedures for funding of CIGS and their development activities in the global South.

The research working group unveils valuable insights in the CIGS communities and their relevance for sustainable development and in mobilising the public to engage in international solidarity.

The coordination group undertakes action in European matters of relevance for CIGS or for the members of the network. This is the management and the organisations of the network as a whole.
